Enter remote control program

Have you ever had to change the input on your TV or computer to watch something? This was done a lot in the ancient days of the 1980s and 1990s, but it still happens today. Using your remote control is going to be a little like that. You can enter the remote control program by, on your Smart Inventor Board, a) selecting program 13 or b) placing DIP switch 3 up. This is called remote control mode!

Remote control channels

If you want to use the remote control with your robot, you need to make sure that the Smart Inventor Board’s mainboard (that’s where all the DIP switches are located) and remote control are on the same channel.

Important things to remember:

  • There are only 4 channels that you can use with your Rokit Smart robots! They’re all in the image below, and you can set channels by flipping DIP switches up or down.
  • Make sure you’re in remote control mode (either on DIP switch 3 or program 13 on the Smart Inventor Board) before changing the channel. If you don’t do this first, there’s a chance that the channel won’t be recognized and your board will go into programming mode instead.

Pairing the remote

Once you have the channel you want on your mainboard, you can connect your remote control! Find the button that matches the channel on your mainboard on the bottom part of the remote control. Press and hold the button for three to five seconds. The red LED on the remote control should start flashing, which means your remote control should be connected!
