Overview

Robolink, Inc. (“Robolink”, “our”, “us”, or “we”) sells robotics kits and provides learning materials to schools and individuals. This Privacy Notice (“Notice”) applies to information that we collect when you visit our business website at https://www.robolink.com/ (our “Business Site”) or purchase our products (“Products”) via the Business Site. The Business Site is a general audience site intended for adults to learn about and purchase our Products. Customers may include school administrators, educators and hobbyists. 

We do not knowingly solicit or collect personal information from children under the age of 13 on the Business Site.

Note: this Notice does not apply to Robolink’s dedicated education portals that are accessed by students, parents and educators (“Education Portals”). These Education Portals are directed to mixed audiences, including children. Our Education Portals include:

Because our Education Portals are intended to be used by children, we take special steps when collecting and processing information through our Education Portals by limiting the personal information that we collect and how we use that information.

1. Information We Collect

We collect information in the following ways, depending on your use of the Business Site:

  • From you directly, such as when you purchase a Product.

  • From others, such as payment service providers.

  • Automatically, including information about how you use the Business Site and the devices you use to access it. To gather this information, we use cookies and similar technologies to collect information, as explained below.

a. Information you provide to us

Business Site Visitors 

You may visit our Business Site to learn more about our Products without submitting any personal information, in which case we will only collect information via automated means, as explained below.

Customers

If you sign up for our newsletter, request a quote or purchase our Products via our Business Site, we collect the following information:

  • Contact information – full name, email address, phone number, postal address

  • Account information – username and password

  • Payment information – payment or credit card information is collected directly by our third-party payment processors as described here. Robolink does not collect or store credit card information

  • Organization information – including title, tax IDs for purchase orders placed by organizations

  • Product information – information about the products you purchase, including any quotes you request.

As a reminder, the Business Site is intended for adult users.

b. Automatically collected information

When you visit and interact with the Business Site, we automatically collect information about your device, browser, and activity:

  • Cookies and other tracking technologies. Like most websites, we use cookies and other standard internet technologies. 

    We (or our authorized partners) automatically collect information about you through cookies or similar technologies. This information derived from cookies and similar technologies serves different purposes, including to ensure that the Business Site functions properly, identify any suspicious activities so we can try to protect users from payment fraud and other inappropriate activities, understand how you use the Business Site, advertise our Products (as explained below), and obtain usage metrics. 

    Most browsers provide choices with respect to these technologies. For example, by modifying your browser preferences, you may have the choice to accept all cookies or be notified when a cookie is set.     Through the use of cookies and tracking technologies, we collect:


    • Device and usage information. We collect information about the device you use to connect to the Business Site and how you use it. This information includes your device’s IP address, your device type, browser type, internet service provider, operating system, and unique device identifiers. This also includes activity and usage information, such as the frequency with which you use the Business Site, how long you stay connected, Products in your cart, the pages that you navigate to, links that you view, and other ways that you interact with the Business Site.  

    • Location Information. When you access the Business Site, we may collect information about your device’s location by inferring your general location such as via your device’s IP address.

  • Do not track. “Do Not Track” (“DNT”) is a standard for web browsers that aims to inform the websites you visit that you do not want information about your online activity collected over time and across third-party websites or online services. Although we do our best to honor the privacy preferences of our users, we do not respond to DNT or other similar signals from your browser at this time. c. Information received from third parties 

From time to time, we process personal information from third parties, which may include transactional data from payment service providers, data from identity verification providers, or information from our analytics or marketing partners. We may also combine information we collect as described above with personal information we obtain from third parties. 

2. Google Analytics

We use Google Analytics to analyze traffic to the Business Site. Google Analytics helps us understand how visitors and users engage with the Business Site. To learn more about Google’s data practices, please visit Google’s support page. You may also opt-out of Google Analytics by clicking here.

3. Third-Party Ad Networks

We partner with third-party advertisers, ad servers, and ad networks (“Ad Partners”). Our Ad Partners use cookies, beacons, pixels or other tracking technologies to collect information about your visits to our Business Site. They use this information to provide advertisements about our Products, including to serve re-targeted ads that attempt to direct you back to our Business Site. It may also include advertisements targeted based on your overall browsing interests. For instance, if you visit our Business Site and add items to your cart but leave before finalizing your transaction, you may receive ads featuring our Products while visiting other services or websites.

4. Payment Processing

When you purchase a Product on the Business Site, your credit card or other payment information is collected and processed by third-party payment processing services that comply with payment card industry standards. For example, if you pay with a credit card, the payment information that you provide through is transmitted directly to our payment processor. We only receive limited information from our payment processors, and never receive or store full credit card or payment information. 

5. How We Use Your Information

We use your personal information to:  

      • Operate and administer the Business Site. We use your personal information to provide, administer and manage the Business Site. 

      • Sell our Products and process your transactions. We use your personal information to respond to your inquiries, process your payment and ensure fulfillment of your transaction(s), and communicate with you regarding Product recalls or warranties, as applicable. 

      • Provide support and communicate with you. When we respond to your inquiries or support requests, we will use your personal information to assist you, as well as any additional information that you provide. We also use your information to send you important updates about changes to this Notice or other terms and policies, and information about your transaction(s).

      • Measure usage and improve the Business Sites and our Products. We use information to generate analytics about how our users use the Business Site. This includes using information to identify issues and bugs, change existing features or test new features.  

      • Make recommendations and personalize the Business Site. If you make a purchase on the Business Site, we may recommend additional Products that may be of interest to you.

      • Serve Ads. As explained here, we use your information for retargeting purposes, to serve advertising based on your activity on the Business Site and on the internet.

      • Maintain security and prevent fraud. We use your personal information to: 

        • Maintain the security and integrity of the Business Site;

        • Detect, prevent, investigate, and protect our users, the business, and others from fraud, unauthorized transactions, and other unsafe activity; and

        • Protect the safety, rights, or property of any person and our business.

      • Comply with our legal obligations. To comply with applicable laws and regulations and valid legal requests, we may use your personal information. This includes tax and reporting obligations.

      • As otherwise necessary or appropriate. We will use your personal information for other purposes at your direction or with your consent.  

6. When We Disclose Your Information

We disclose your personal information as described below: 

      • To our affiliates. We may disclose your personal information to and among our affiliates, subsidiaries, and other companies under common control and ownership for purposes consistent with this Notice. 

      • To our service providers and partners. We disclose your personal information to third parties that provide services to us. This includes services that assist with cloud storage and system hosting, information security, fraud prevention, payment processing, analytics, and legal matters. 

      • To our Ad Partners. We disclose your information to our Ad Partners, as explained here.  

      • To schools that purchase Products for educational purposes. We may disclose users’ information  to schools who use the Products as part of their courses and who are associated with the Products. 

      • To comply with legal requirements. We will disclose personal information when we believe that the disclosure is reasonably necessary to comply with applicable laws and regulations, as well as valid legal processes or legal requests.   

      • In connection with a sale or business transaction. We may sell or purchase assets during the normal course of business. If another entity acquires us or any of our assets, personal information that we have collected may be transferred to such entity and its advisors leading up to and/or following the transaction. In addition, if any bankruptcy or reorganization proceeding is brought by or against us, personal information that we hold may be considered an asset of ours and may be sold or transferred to third parties.

      • To others, at your direction or as necessary. We will disclose your personal information to other parties at your direction or with your consent. We may also disclose your personal information to other parties if we believe it necessary or appropriate to:

        • Protect our business; 

        • Protect our rights, privacy, safety, or property, or those of others; or 

        • To allow us to pursue available legal remedies or limit damages that we may sustain.   

Note that if we disclose your personal information for reasons not listed above, we will notify you of such disclosure at the time of information collection. 

7. Third-Party Websites

Some links on the Business Site may redirect you to third-party websites and services that Robolink does not operate. How these websites and services use your personal information is governed by their own privacy policies. We encourage you to review and understand their privacy policies before disclosing any personal information to them.  

8. Information Security

We implement and maintain reasonable administrative, physical, and technical measures designed to safeguard and protect personal information under our control from unauthorized access, use, and disclosure. Nevertheless, because no data transmission or storage system is completely secure, we cannot guarantee the security of your information. 

Here are some ways to protect your personal information:

      • Create a username that does not reveal your identity

      • Create (and keep) a strong password – do not reuse passwords

      • Keep your password to yourself!

9. Data Retention

Our retention of your personal information depends upon several factors, including without limitation, the following:

      • The length of time necessary to fulfill the purpose(s) for which we collected the personal information;

      • The length of time it is reasonable or necessary to keep records to demonstrate that we have fulfilled our business and legal duties and obligations and contractual commitments (as applicable), such as tax obligations;

      • Any limitation periods within which claims can be made;

      • Any retention periods prescribed by law or otherwise; and

      • The existence of any relevant legal proceedings. 

10. Processing in the United States

Robolink operates its business, including the Business Site, in the United States and processes personal information in the United States. As such, when you visit the Business Site or submit an inquiry, your personal information may be processed outside of the country or region in which you reside.

11. Your Choices 

You have certain choices and may exercise certain rights with respect to our use of your personal information. Please note that rights and requests may be subject to applicable exceptions. 

a. Exercise your marketing choices 

We may send you periodic marketing and promotional emails (and will obtain your consent to do so, where required by law). If you no longer wish to receive our marketing and promotional communications, you may opt-out of receiving them by following the opt-out or unsubscribe instructions included in any communication that you receive from us. Please note that even if you opt-out of receiving promotional communications from us, we may still send you administrative and transactional messages from which you cannot opt-out.    

b. California Consumer Notice

Under California Civil Code Section 1789.3, California residents are entitled to the following specific consumer rights notice: if you have a question or complaint regarding our Business Site, please send an email to privacy@robolink.com. California residents may contact the Complaint Assistance Unit of the Division of Consumer Services of the California Department of Consumer Affairs:

California Shine the Light Law. The “Shine the Light” requirements under California Civil Code §1798.83 do not apply to the individuals covered under this Notice because we do not engage in activities covered by this law.

The “Last Updated” date at the top of this page indicates when this Notice was last revised. We may from time to time update this Notice to reflect changes in our information handling and privacy practices or applicable law. If we make material changes to this Notice, we will provide you with notice of such changes (such as an updated notice posted on the Business Site or a message delivered to the email address that we have on file for you).
